Mike Duda
Deutsch Inc.
Michael is responsible for shaping Deutsch’s marketing, business development, corporate planning, global footprint and corporate communications initiatives for the agency. In addition, he maintains account oversight of Anheuser-Busch InBev, Under Armour and Vineyard Vines.
Michael has helped Deutsch grow significantly in a number ways:
- Via traditional new business efforts, the Agency has won over $2 billion worth of assignments from the likes of General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Starwood Hotels and Sony PlayStation under his watch.
- Via “WAR” pursuits (Without a Review) which he crafted in 2005, the Agency has secured relationships with a number of blue-chip brands outside the traditional pitch process. Yielding a much stronger ROI (financial and time), this approach has yielded the likes of Anheuser-Busch InBev, DIRECTV, IKEA, Kodak and Under Armour.
- Via outside partnerships. Michael has helped evolve Deutsch’s previously insular fully integrated approach by established the Agency’s first joint ventures: he spearheaded Deutsch’s footprint in China and separately established MWWGroup@Deutsch for public relations with one of North America’s top firms.
- Via organic growth, he has worked with Agency leadership to devise organic growth strategies to grow current client businesses, bet it through additional brands or services for over 20 clients in the past five years.
Michael’s contributions have not gone unnoticed, winning the coveted “40 Under 40” list created by Crain’s New York Business for rising business stars, but more importantly, contributing to
Deutsch’s numerous “Agency of the Year” awards.
Michael’s unique insights into integration and business development stem from his own “hybrid” background. Prior to joining Deutsch in January 1998, he held public relations and interactive roles at Hutchins/Young & Rubicam (1993-95) and co-founded the agency’s interactive unit in 1994. He also held direct response, account management and business development positions at Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners (1995-97) and oversaw corporate growth and integration roles at Omnicom’s Rapp Collins Worldwide (2000-01), where he helped lead the agency to its first “Agency of the Year” honor.
Michael is a regular guest speaker at numerous industry functions, Wall Street analyst conferences and colleges. He also is a member of the American Association of Advertising Agency’s (AAAA) New Business Committee, the Ad Club of New York and is on the Board of Directors of Syracuse University’s Sports Management School as well as a founding board member of Nash Inc., an entrepreneurial venture headed by NBA All-Star and philanthropist Steve Nash.
Michael is a graduate of St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York. Outside of Deutsch, he can be found chasing his twin sons with his wife Kristin in Riverside, Connecticut or yelling at referees at a sporting event.
